It's working...

We have been struggling with Eli getting out of bed at night.
Some nights he would get up 3-4 times.
Nothing's wrong, he just wonders into our room and then I have to get up and take him back to bed.
Yes, me. If Aaron tries, he cries and screams.
So, we put a gate up infront of his door!
And, it's been working!
He doesn't wake up and yell from his room, which is what I thought would happen.
The only time he gets up is in the morning.
Yay!!
I told him after a few nights we would take the gate down and see how he does.
We'll try soon!
I don't know...does it seem cruel??!!

No, not cruel. NECESSARY!!! We had to do that for a while with Ollie, too!!!

I realize my child is not Eli's age yet, but I would say a strong "NO" to your cruelty question. I'll have no problem whatsoever doing that to Luke if need be someday.

I've heard of several people using that trick and have a feeling we might be doing it someday soon as well! For us, Braden will be upstairs and I really don't want him coming down the stairs in the middle of the night! Hope it keeps working for you!
