Our Dogs

So today is a really sad day in our house. We have 2 dogs; Paco, a mut, and Bailey, a great dane. This morning our neighbors called us and said that Paco was out in the front yard. They had put him back, but weren't able to see or find Bailey. We have looked all over our neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods. We can't find her anywhere. What scares me is that we live off HWY 50. I'm scared that we're going to be driving down the HWY and find her. (Not the way I want to find her).

I grew up in a house where our dog was like another child. So, that is the way I thought of our dogs. They used to be inside dogs at our old house. Since we moved, they had been outside dogs. They were fine, but they had each other. Now, Paco is all by himself. It is the saddest sight. Paco is just lying around like he's lost his best friend. Please pray for us that we can find her. Eli goes outside and keeps looking in their pin and saying, "Bailey?" It's so sad. For those of you who are dog lovers, you know what we're doing through! I'll let you know if we find her.

Paco usually jumps up and is wagging his tail when you come out to see him. This is all he's doing right now. It's so sad.

This is the dog pin in the garage. They sleep in here. Paco won't come out or lift his face.

I tried to get him to look at me from outside. He won't :(

Any Suggestions??

Ok - I know some of you out there are decorators. I've been to your houses, seen what you've done.... please help me out!!! I have this blank wall that I don't know what to do with. We have a nice big clock, thanks to our realtor, but I have NO idea what else I could do that would look appropriate. So, after looking at the pictures if you think you have some ideas for me, let me know! If you need to get a better look, I'm more than willing to have come over! I would love to be a decorator, but I'm not. I just need someone to tell me what to do!!

Where's your...

I know all toddlers go through the stage where they show you different body parts. I think it's one of the cutest things in the world! Here is a video of Eli pointing to different parts. He looks so thrilled to be doing again, don't you think!!!

Birthday

Have you ever had one of those birthday's where you just wish it was over? That was me today. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful that I had a birthday however the day was just all wrong. Let me tell you what happened and you can decide if I'm just feeling sorry for myself!

1. This was the first time EVER that I've been in school on my birthday, as a student and as a teacher having kids.

2. Aaron, MY HUSBAND, forgot my birthday. Yep, that's right, I walked out of the house this morning and not a happy birthday was said!

3. I got some flowers from my parents, which are so beautiful. However I was a little disappointed b/c I thought maybe they were from Aaron.(thanks mom and dad - i love them!)

4. Did I mention that I'm teaching Kindergarten? If you've ever taught Kindergarten before you know what I mean!

5. FINALLY - at the end of the day, I got some flowers from Aaron. They were gorgeous and they were the flowers that were in my wedding bouqet(pretty sure he didn't mean to do that!)

6. Day was over - went to pick up my baby. Only to find out that he only slept 1 and 1/2 hrs, which means that he was getting grumpy already!

7. Was looking forward to a massage from my sister-in-law, only to find out that she left her oils in Wichita. She did go buy some, but she was upset b/c it wasn't the best kind and it left me extremely sticky! (I didn't care, I was just glad she gave me one!)

8. Went to dinner with Aaron's parent's (yesterday was Tim's b-day). That was good, Eli did ok. Remember that he only slept for 1 and 1/2hrs.

9. He cried all the way home! (from grandparent's house to ours)

10. Got home and went for a walk with our neigbors and we're enjoying their company right now.

I'm sure some of you are reading this and thinking, get over it Shannon. But you know when you have an idea of how a day might go and it doesn't? Well that was my day. Oh well, tomorrow's another day I guess!

Back to work

Well, tonight is my last night of freedom before I head back to work. When school ended, I had a lot of mix emotions about staying at home. I just thought I wouldn't be able to handle it and wasn't really looking forward to it. Things have definetly changed! I really enjoyed staying home with Eli. There were days that proved to be a struggle, but there's always going to be. We stayed extremely busy with play groups, library, swimming and naps! I feel like we became really close this summer and now, it's coming to an end.
I think it hit me today at church. Eli had a really rough time staying in the nursery. He screamed and screamed b/c he wanted me. That started making me think about how he's just gotten so used to me staying at home with him that he doesn't want to be left with anyone else. (execpt grandparents, which is good b/c his grandma watches him during the school year!)
So, as I sit here and think about how I have to get up and be out the door by 7:30am, I'm getting really sad! I know that once I get back into the swing of things it will be ok, but pray for me this week! It's going to be a hard adjustment and I'm really struggling with it. The one thing that helps me is that he gets to go to grandma's house and he loves it over there! I'll let you know how it goes!

The best sound in the world

I love hearing Eli laugh. It is the best sound in the world and can make anyone laugh. Go ahead, listen to it. Let me know if it doesn't at least bring a smile to your face!

Family Vacation

Well, I have been bugging Aaron all summer to go on vacation somewhere. I didn't care where, I just wanted to get out of Newton and enjoy our family! So, we finally got to go when it's the hottest time of the summer! We went down to Oklahoma City for a couple of days. Those of you who have traveled with little kids, know that is long enough! Eli did great, but I can't imagine staying in a hotel for an extended amount of time with a 1year old. We left Sunday morning and the plan was to come back on Tuesday morning. However since we had done everything we wanted to by Monday night, we decided to come back that night so Eli would sleep the whole way. Actually, that was one of my favorite time of the vacation b/c Aaron and I got to talk the whole way and not be interupted! Our whole families favorite thing was the zoo. If you ever get a chance to go to the Oklahoma Zoo, you should. It's ranked in the top 3 zoos. It was great! Here are some pictures of our vacation!

This gorilla just starred at Eli! It was so cute!

I believe that at this point it was already 100 degrees! He was tired!

Yes, they had kiddie rides. 1 dollar = 1 token. 1 ride = 1 token. I know, a rip off, but your on vacation!

My Papa and Grandpa

Eli is talking more and more. He's starting to put a couple words together and say things. Obviously it's not absolutely clear, but you can make it out! Anyways, he is in love with his Papa (my dad) and Grandpa (aaron's dad). He says, "I wanna papa! or I wanna grandpa!" It's not I wanna mom or dad... it's all about his grandpa's! So these pictures and post is for them! Oh, and did I mention that they completely spoil him. I guess that's what grandpa's are supposed to do, right?
